Justin Murphy holds no misconceptions
about the perception of his sport.
He knows long-distance running's place
on the track-and-field pecking order. He
realizes that most in the stands
Saturday at the Don Heidorn Memorial
meet came to watch sprinters streak down
the front stretch and witness the thrill
of the relay events. "Our sport is
other sports' punishment," quipped
Murphy, a junior at Florence, with one
of his gold medals dangling from his
neck. |
