Hillcrest Lady Patriot Classic in Tuscaloosa
Game 1           Florence vs. Thompson

Florence opened the season with a 7-1 victory over Thompson.  Mary Ware was the winning pitcher allowing 0 earned run, 3 hits, 1 BB, while recording 5 strikeouts in the 4 ½ inning game.  Olivia Watkins went 3-3 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI’s, and 1 stolen base.  Kaitlin Eckl had 2 hits with 1 double, 2 runs scored, and 1 RBI.  Hannah Beer had 1 hit and scored 2 runs.  Jessica Campbell and Abby Duncan also singled.  Jessi Flippo scored 1 run. The Lady Falcons started off the season strong by scoring 3 runs in the 1st, 3 runs in the 2nd, and 1 run in the 4th inning.

Game 1 Summary:
Florence           7 runs / 8 hits / 2 errors                      
Thompson        1 run / 3 hits / 1 error

Game 2           Florence vs. UMS Wright

Florence picked up its second victory in the Friday night late game with a 1-0 victory over UMS Wright.  Haley Shollenberger was the winning pitcher hurling a shutout, allowing 2 hits, 2 BB, and 1 strikeout in a 6 inning game. Florence scored the lone run of the game in the top of the 1st inning.  Hannah Beer singled, stole 2nd & 3rd, and scored on a fielder’s choice by Kaitlin Eckl.  Jessica Campbell had the only other Falcon hit of the game, a triple, also in the 1st inning.  The Falcons are now 2-0 on the season.

UMS Wright    0 runs / 2 hits / 0 errors

Game 3           Florence vs. Lawrence County

Florence continued its winning ways with a 4-2 victory over Lawrence County early Saturday morning.  Mary Ware was the winning picture in the 4 inning game.  Ware allowed 2 runs (1 earned run), 3 hits, 1 hit batter, 0 BB, with 3 strikeouts. Florence and Lawrence County both scored a run in the 1st and 3rd inning.  The Lady Falcons recorded 3 straight to start the top of the 4th.  Meka Ingram started the rally with a single followed by a double by Molly Wilson.  Meka and Erin Fielder, pinch running for Molly Wilson, both scored on a single by Allison Nolen.  Nolen’s 2 RBI single was the winning hit. Others hitting safely were:  Kaitlin Eckl with 2 hits, 1 run, 1 stolen base; Jessica Campbell with 2 doubles, and 2 RBI’s.  Lady Falcons improve record to 3-0.

Game 3 Summary:
Florence           4 runs / 6 hits / 1 error
Lawrence Co.  2 runs / 3 hits / 0 errors

Game 4           Florence vs. Prattville

After winning all their pool play games, the Lady Falcons dropped their opening game in tournament play by a 4-1 score to Prattville.  Mary Ware suffered the loss and is now 2-1 for the season.  Ware allowed 6 hits, 3 BB’s, while recording 2 K’s.  Olivia Watkins had 2 hits with a double, stole 2 bases, and scored the lone run on an error by Prattville.  Jessica Campbell, Caroline Pickens, and Molly Wilson contributed a single each.  Lady Falcon record now stands 3-1.

Game 4 Summary:
Florence           1 run / 5 hits / 1 error
Prattville           4 runs / 6 hits / 2 errors
